Above all, I am thankful for God Most High, who gives us life and all within,
Who gives us opportunity to exist for something much greater than ourselves,
And who gives us grace to do it well—much better than we may realize. I am thankful for my own ignorance—ignorance not of a wicked type, but of a human quality, which proves that my perspective is not the perspective and that I am not the Master-Craftsman.

I am thankful for a nation in which I have the liberty to serve my God and His people, a nation in which I choose my own way—be it good or evil.
I am thankful for a nation which, at its beginnings, knew that we were evil, but knew that things ought to be a certain way.
I am thankful for the people of this nation and of every nation, because without them, this life would be nothing.
I am thankful for Democrats, Republicans, the media, and all controversy and disagreement. We are evil; it is right that we should disagree—strongly—because from that disagreement comes a grain of truth and righteousness upon which our country is built.
I am thankful for the ability to see—to not be blind to—people who die and go hungry and suffer and lack so much, that I may not be ignorant to what I have been given.
I am thankful for those who serve me—be it with their life, with the beauty of a smile, or with anything in between.
I am thankful for the depth of our being, to which words cannot much say.
I am thankful for my parents and for all parents; they do and they mean so much more than they could ever realize.

I am thankful for a hat, which keeps me warm inside; I am thankful for a jacket, which keeps the weather off my hide.
I am thankful for a pair of jeans in which I can work; I am thankful for a pair of shoes that keeps my feet from dirt.
I am thankful for the little things that I get barely wrong; I am thankful for the toughest mountains—they build me up as strong.

I am thankful for the things that I do not know I am thankful for—those small things which go unnoticed for a reason.
I am thankful for this life, this God, this people, this love, this service, this ugliness, and this beauty.
