Life often distracts people from realizing how many blessings they truly have. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it is the perfect time to reflect on all that there is to be thankful for.

I am truly thankful for my parents and all of the sacrifices they have made for me. They work long days just so that I can attend Notre Dame. If it wasn’t for them, then I would have never met any of my friends. All of my physical needs are cared for, and I know that I am loved. I know that I am unable to comprehend all of the sacrifices my parents have made for me, but I do know that they have made all of the difference in my life.

Everyone is searching for some form of acceptance. I am thankful for all of my friends, and how they are always there for me. Being friendly is easy, but being a friend is a task that isn’t always the easiest. My friends always let me know that they care about me, even if it’s just in the simplest of ways. Life can be a little bit rough sometimes, and having a support system of people who care about you makes a big difference.

School is where I met all of my best friends; it’s where I learned how to interact with people and how to work as a team towards a common goal. It’s taught me about values, such as hard work. Above all, school has taught me patience and mercy. I wouldn’t trade school or the experiences I’ve had in it for any sum of money.

There are many things to be thankful for. Without love though, what would the purpose of any of these things be? I am most thankful for love, the type of love that brings people together as brothers and sisters, the type of love that you show when you make a sacrifice for others. I am most Thankful for love of this sort because it is truly the most fulfilling thing in life. It gives purpose.
