A dusty storage room has been brought to life this school year as a new robotics program has been introduced at Notre Dame. The storage room has been renovated with new flooring, paint, etc. to make a robotics lab. A robotics team has been formed and all middle school students are getting the opportunity to participate in the new program during STEM classes.

Eighth graders Will Behrens and Julian Fazzini are on the robotics team with seventh graders Landon Frosch and Christian Arnold. Their first scrimmage takes place on Sunday, October 14 in Fairmont and their First Lego League competition is on November 3 at the RCB aerospace education center in Bridgeport.

Veteran Notre Dame teacher, Darlene O’Dell is leading the program with the assistance of Lorene Lilly, who is the new school secretary. Lilly has worked with the robotics team at Fairmont Catholic for seven years. Just over $8,500 has been raised to renovate the room and purchase equipment. Pictured behind the robotics mission board is Roger Lehosit presenting a $2,000 check to team members Christian Arnold and Landon Frosch. Thank you also to the family and friends of Al & Joanne Schopp and Leidos for their gifts to the robotics program.
